‘A’ big success for college students at Daventry
Overjoyed college students were praised by teaching staff for achieving 100% pass rates in 15 A2 subjects including Art, Business Studies, Geography, Sport and Law.
The overall pass rate was the best ever for the College. Almost 400 AS and A2 exams were taken by students at the College Daventry site with their teachers being drawn from Northampton College and from Danetre and Daventry William Parker Schools; all key players in the Daventry Learning Partnership.
Vice Principal of Learning, John Bexson said, ‘Our learners in the Daventry Learning Partnership DLP continue to make us proud. We would like to congratulate everyone who has done so well today at A Level and on our equivalent vocational and Apprenticeship courses. They have worked incredibly hard and should be very pleased with the grades they have achieved.’
Referring to the Daventry Learning Partnership (DLP) plans within the new Town Centre he added, ‘Working alongside our DLP partners, we will create a new, shared, educational site in the Town Centre where we can continue to build on these successes well into the future.’
It is still possible to enrol on a full-time course starting in September at one of the Advice and Guidance days. Visit us at Daventry on 2nd September between 10am-12pm and 2pm-4pm.
Case Study
Lauren Cugini, 18
Lauren was celebrating after achieving two As and a B in Applied Art & Design (double award) and Fine Art. She said ‘I really didn’t expect to do so well. I’m especially pleased as this means I can go on to University in Northampton to study Fashion Marketing. In the long term, I’d love to set-up my own business, possibly selling artwork, but I’m keeping my options open at the moment.’
