Adult tasters to celebrate adult learning
Adults in Daventry can learn the art of online selling, orienteering and long hair styles – all in one week!
Free taster sessions will be on offer at all three Northampton College sites between 9-15 May in celebration of Adult Learners’ Week – an initiative by National Institute of Adult Continuing Education (NIACE).
Five sessions planned during the week at the Daventry site will give adults a flavour of college learning and offer progression onto part-time courses starting in September 2009. The courses cover hobby and skill based areas (full list of dates, times and photo opportunities below).
Vice Principal of Learning, John Bexson said, ‘Engaging adults has always been one of our main priorities. In this current economic climate, retraining people and encouraging them to gain new skills is particularly important. The sessions we have organised at Daventry are fun but also have progression opportunities onto other courses which start next academic year. For adults who may be daunted by the prospect of returning to education, they also prove college is nothing to be afraid of.’
