A levels and Diploma

New for September 2009

The Diploma

The Diploma is an exciting new qualification that will bring an innovative approach to learning. It will enable students to gain knowledge, understanding and hands-on experience of sectors that they are interested in, while putting new skills into practice. Employers and awarding bodies have teamed up with schools, colleges and universities to develop high quality content for the new qualification.
As well as the ‘Principal Learning’ which is made up of a variety of units linked to the industry, all Diplomas include functional skills in Maths, English and IT. They will also develop personal, learning and thinking skills and work experience is another valuable aspect of the programme.

The first Diplomas will be delivered at Level 2 (equivalent to seven GCSEs) in Years 10 and 11 in partnership with Danetre School, William Parker School and Guilsborough School with Northampton College and Moulton College. These will be:

  • Engineering Diploma
  • Creative and Media Diploma
  • Construction and the Built Environment Diploma

If you are interested in these new Diplomas please ask for more information in your school.
