Daventry students awarded for achievements
Daventry students who have overcome difficulties or achieved outstanding academic success had their inspirational stories read to guests at the College’s Annual Awards Ceremony.
Eleven Students were awarded with a certificate during the event at The Guildhall on Friday 26 November.
Principal Len Closs said, ‘I am continually inspired by learners at Daventry and extremely proud of what they have achieved. They have all been on incredible journeys to reach their goals and the stories we heard during the evening were a testament to their ongoing hard work, attitude and dedication to learning. We will continue to recognise the accomplishment of our outstanding learners as we take forward our ongoing plans for the Daventry Learning Partnership to offer young people in the Town the highest quality learning experience.’
Some of the students’ achievements have been summarised below…
Amy Taylor, 20 from Long Buckby
Amy studied A Levels in Fine Art, Applied Art and 3D Design at Daventry. Her talents and strong ambition to become an illustrator allowed her to create striking pieces of art which she meticulously presented in an exceptional manner.
She was a very motivated learner who would quietly get on with her work with very little direction. She always knew what she wanted to achieve and never wasted any time making sure her sketch books and supporting work were completed to a high standard.
She achieved three As and a B and has progressed on to a foundation art course at Coventry University.
Jordan Adnitt, 21 from Northampton
Jordan started the Performing Engineering Operations qualification with no prior knowledge of motorcycle engineering.
This barrier was soon overcome by Jordan’s enthusiasm to learn. He quickly developed a fondness for machines and took pride in his workmanship, producing some exceptional work.
Jordan was part of a small team that fully restored a vintage Lambretta owned by Tony Kitchen of AK Training. The machine was shown at the National Vintage Motorcycle and Scooter event in Coventry and received a great deal of attention from veteran owners. The Lambretta is now featured on the AK Training web site.
Jordan is now working at a classic car workshop where he is learning traditional panel beating and restoration techniques. He is hoping eventually to open his own car restoration business in the future.
